Spencer S. Fritts

Spencer S. Fritts started his legal career serving as a judicial law clerk at the North Carolina Court of Appeals. During his time at the Court of Appeals, he had the privilege of clerking for three separate judges on the Court—Judges Ann Marie Calabria, Tobias S. Hampson, and John M. Tyson. Spencer’s time spent at the Court of Appeals instilled in him the importance of protecting those who are injured or killed by the negligence of others. After his clerkship, Spencer took his passion for helping others into private practice, working at two boutique plaintiff’s law firms, where he concentrated on personal injury work, including wrongful death, motor vehicle collisions, medical negligence, and on-the-job accidents.

Throughout his career, Spencer has fought for the rights of those injured by the negligence of others. In 2023, he had the privilege of arguing before the North Carolina Supreme Court, where he sought to have a law declared unconstitutional that deprived minors injured by medical negligence from having their day in court. As a founder of Morse Fritts PLLC, Spencer continues to represent victims and their families throughout North Carolina and across the country. His practice focuses on representing people who have been injured by motor vehicle collisions, medical negligence, defective products, and on-the-job accidents. Spencer also counsels clients through employment discrimination and retaliation cases and labor law disputes.

Spencer is a proud member of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, American Association for Justice, North Carolina Bar Association, and Wake County Bar Association, where he has had the honor of serving in various leadership roles within the legal community. Having had numerous mentors throughout his legal career who engrained in him the importance of volunteering, he is passionate about his work with these organizations.

Spencer earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, where he served as the symposium editor of the Campbell Law Review and a student representative for the North Carolina Bar Association. Spencer was published in the Campbell Law Review as a student for his article exploring the intersection of administrative law and an employee's right to their tips, which was subsequently cited with approval in a petition for writ of certiorari to the United States Supreme Court. He also completed externships with the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the Raleigh City Attorney's Office, as well as having served as a research assistant for three different law school professors.

Spencer earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of South Carolina Honors College. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time on his boat, playing golf, and following the Gamecocks.
